Our History

Before the wars, Mary Beh was a high school principal in Buchanan and demonstrated outstanding leadership and organizational skills. Along with her husband, Thomas Beh, she saved countless lives. While staying in Buchanan during the war she began feeding children that had been orphaned from the violence and chaos of the destruction. She says that she fed them because that is what anyone would do. She has cared for the basic needs of those under her protection. Whether it be founding a school to educate her orphans, providing them with food, shelter, or water; her constant focus has been on giving those under her wing the best possible chance for health, safety, and success in life.

In 1984, the late Pastor Frank Alexander and the Oasis of Hope Baptist Church became acquainted with the Behs during one of his trips with Missions for Rural Africa. The Behs shared with Pastor Alexander the plight of the children and their grave need for food and housing.

Under Pastor’s leadership, Oasis of Hope Baptist Church committed backing to the Behs efforts to make life better for these displaced children. And with that, vision for the Mission for Orphans, Disabled, and Unaccompanied Children (MODUC) was born in 1995.

Oasis MODUC Outreach Ministry has taken the lead in promoting and providing support for the home. Our ministry provides food, clothing, shoes, medical care, religion, education, and other financial needs.

The Outreach Ministry has completed several trips to the compound in Buchannan to hand deliver relief items and to spread goodwill to the residents there. Unfortunately, our ministry has also suffered some great losses. Thomas Beh passed away 2015 after a long illness. Mary followed in April 2019, and Pastor Alexander followed on November 12, 2019. With our three founders gone, we aim to continue and expand the reaches of their legacy and take our outreach to a new level. Please join us in this pure and genuine religion. Help us care for orphans in their distress.
